A truly special piece of vintage textile art, covered almost entirely in intricate hand embroidery.
This small but incredibly detailed textile panel is made on a deep red cotton ground and features an extraordinary composition of geometric motifs, circular medallions, colourful embroidered details and richly worked borders.
The original form appears to have been part of a traditional garment or ceremonial textile, rather than something made purely as modern wall decoration. The dense handwork, unusual construction and beautifully faded colours give it a wonderfully authentic, time-worn character.
Its exact origin is not documented, but the embroidery shows strong characteristics associated with the tribal textile traditions of western South Asia, particularly the cultural region around Kutch/Gujarat, Sindh and Balochistan. Similar traditions can cross modern borders, so we prefer to describe the origin as South Asian tribal textile rather than make an unverified attribution.

Condition
This is an old, genuinely lived textile and it shows its age. There are loose threads, fraying and small irregularities throughout, which are part of its character and history. Please study the photographs carefully — this is not new or factory-perfect textile.
A beautiful piece for collectors of vintage textiles, tribal embroidery and one-of-a-kind bohemian interiors.
